Sudan exports ethanol to Europe
On Sunday 27th of December Sudan celebrated the export of the first shipment, 5 million liters of Ethanol to Amsterdam, which was shipped from Port Sudan. The State Minister of Industry declared that the company would ship extra 10 million liters of Ethanol bio-fuel within the next two weeks. Moreover, within the next three months the company will be able to export 35,000 metric tons of the Ethanol bio-fuel to Europe. Then the company will regularly export 5 million liters per month. Total exports during this season shall top 65 million liters of Ethanol bio-fuel. Revenues of exports will range between 48 to 50 million US dollars.

Norfund invests in Africado
Norfund has recently invested USD 4 million in Africado Limited, Tanzania's first avocado plantation. The plantation is situated on the slopes of Kilimanjaro and has already created jobs for about 100 people, and this number is expected to increase. The plantation creates an alternative source of income for the small scale farmers in the area, where coffee is the dominating product today.

The plantation has 80 hectare available for avocado trees but the plan is to expand to 140 hectare already in 2010, with the aim to involve local farmers in the production. The first harvest will take place towards the end of 2010 before they will be transported on ships to Europe.

Turkey's ESPRO Asphalt Co inaugurates 500K Ton facility in Nigeria
.......an Asphalt plant worth over N2 billion with 500,000 tonnes capacity built by an investor from Turkey in partnership with Osun State Government. A crushing plant that would fast track about one million tonnes of quarry was also inaugurated.

....Oyinlola explained that the asphalt project initiative intended to fast track rapid economic growth and efficient transport network, a public private partnership, is a tripartite arrangement among ESPRO, the contracting Industry Company Incorporation of Turkey, the Osun State Government and the 30 local government areas in the state.

Egypt wants to Port Said the premier transhipment port in the Mediterranean
The Egyptian Government will launch in 2010 a tender for the construction of a third container terminal at Port Said.

The goal is to reach a total capacity of 13 million TEUs (twenty foot equivalent, the unit container) of 2030. The investment would represent approximately 3.75 million €.

In a broader sense, the government wants to boost infrastructure to bring the country's growth and hopes to attract a total of 3.7 billion € investment in port infrastructure and services by 2030.
