2009 Human Rights Report: DRC

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is a nominally centralized republic with a population of approximately 68 million. The president and the lower house of parliament (National Assembly) are popularly elected; the members of the upper house (the Senate) are chosen by provincial assemblies. Multiparty presidential and National Assembly elections in 2006 were judged to be credible, despite some irregularities, while indirect elections for senators in 2007 were marred by allegations of vote buying.

Hi everybody,

I am pursuing a dream by working for a primary healthcare ngo in the DRC. I also am a country manager for FYBO Group. The two work well together, as living in the DRC (Kinshasa), I can meet many of the people I want to help provide better opportunities and structures for through fybo's diverse selection of construction materials and related items, such as our dynamic Water Treatment Kit.

I am looking for people who want to help Africa in General and DRC in particular to build from the ground up in the easiest, most cost efficient yet sustainable, sturdy way with some of FYBO's materials.

I would be please to talk with you about potential opportunities ...

I was asked to submit project proposals for DRC under a special program of the Dutch government to assist SME's in so-called fragile states to start a new business. However as we have no contacts in DRC we have no other option than to say sorry, we cannot. Projects should be in line with our expertise (See www.rainbowagro.nl ) , sustainable, innovative for the country and with a maximum project value of 1,5 million Euro. Good projects are liable for 60% of this project value.
