The Economist predicts Ethiopia’s economy will grow by 7 per cent in 2010. It also estimates inflation will be reduced by 12 per cent.

Emerging Capital Partners has bought a minority stake in a top insurance group in French-speaking west and central Africa, marking its largest investment in an African financial services firm.

Private equity funds dedicated to Africa were up 37% in 2008 compared to 2007, and the number of private equity funds with closes rose from 16 in 2007 to 21 in 2008.
Fundraising for private equity funds focusing on emerging markets reached a record high of $6.45bn in 2008, up 12% from 2007, according to a new study released by the Washington D.C. based Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA).
